Best time to visit Marrakech

Spring and autumn avoid the summer peaks. From March to May, daily highs run from 23.6 °C to 29.4 °C, and the nights are mild. October and November bring 28.5 °C and 23.1 °C by day, with moderate rain. For sightseeing on foot in the Medina, these months are the most comfortable on paper.

Summer works if you plan around the heat. In June to August, highs sit between 33.6 °C and 37.7 °C. Do your walking early, rest in the afternoon, and visit a hammam or a shaded garden. Nights stay warm, with minimums above 17 °C.

Winter suits you if you prefer cool air. Days reach about 19 to 21 °C, but nights fall to 6 to 8 °C, so ask your accommodation about heating before you book. This is an editorial reading of the averages, not a guarantee. Any single week can be warmer or cooler.

Ramadan 2027

Ramadan 2027 is forecast to begin on 8 February 2027, with Eid al-Fitr on 10 March 2027. Both dates are provisional, and one calendar lists Eid on 9 March, so the official announcement may differ by a day. Do not plan flight changes around a single date.

During Ramadan, expect changed hours in shops and restaurants, and be considerate of people who are fasting. The British government advises visitors to plan for this. Check the opening hours of individual venues with your hotel or the site before you go. The month falls in the cool season in 2027, so the weather is mild.

Weather beyond the city

The table is for Marrakech itself. The High Atlas, the Agafay desert and the Sahara have their own conditions, so do not transfer the city values to them. Check a forecast for your destination before an excursion.

Storms matter in the mountains. The British government warns of flash floods, particularly in the mountains and along rivers. In early October 2026, storms caused flash floods in the Ourika valley, with mud on paths and cut passages near the river. A local provider reported on 13 October 2026 that the road, restaurants and the waterfall walk were available again. After heavy rain, check conditions on the day. See our Ourika valley guide.

What to pack

  • Summer: light, loose clothes that cover shoulders and knees, a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle.
  • Spring and autumn: a light layer for the evening and comfortable shoes for stone lanes.
  • Winter: a warm jacket or fleece for the evenings, and layers for the day.
  • Any season: respect local dress and religious custom, particularly during Ramadan.
